Bone Trees

Bone Trees
6ft x 4ft Acrylic and modeling paste on canvas.
This large-scale painting is built up with heavy use of modeling paste, giving the surface a deeply tactile, almost sculptural quality. Against a backdrop of layered crimson, rust, and scarlet tones, dark vertical strokes cascade downward like roots, veins, or tree trunks, creating the impression of a dense, burning forest. Emerging from this charged environment are two spectral, elongated forms that resemble hybrid figures — part organic growth, part skeletal remains. Their pale, bone-like structures are traced with luminous white lines that extend like roots, nerves, or tendrils, heightening the sense of otherworldly vitality.
The painting feels like an alien world — strange yet alive — where familiar natural elements are transformed into something unfamiliar and uncanny. The intense textures emphasize both decay and resilience, while the fiery reds and deep greens suggest a cycle of destruction and regeneration unfolding in an environment that is both terrestrial and extraterrestrial.
